Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the Netherlands, and Maastricht is a huge part of that. To play for Maastricht is to join an exciting team with opportunities to develop as a player, to find a family in the hugely diverse senior teams and to enjoy fast-paced high energy sport.

In season 2021-2022  the first team of the Maastricht Maraboes Rugby Combination, unfortunately, had to withdraw from First Division competition just before the start of the competition.

The reason is that the 1st team, especially in the front row, has too few forwards who can safely handle the level of the First Division. We consider it irresponsible to bet on more or less physically inexperienced players at this level in this position in the scrum.

The board of the MMRC regrets this decision but can do nothing but choose for the safety and health of its players.
